Artist Bio:

Oscar Sánchez, born in Bogotá, Colombia, on June 11, 1986, exhibited a profound interest in drawing and painting from a young age. While studying administration and finance, he also apprenticed at Master Saldarriaga's workshop, where he honed various artistic techniques. Sánchez's dedication to cultural activism led him to work with NGOs, where he supported displaced youth and victims of Colombia's armed conflict. His activism extended to participation in an international peace brigade, where he spearheaded cultural arts projects and engaged in pedagogical efforts in marginalized regions of Colombia.

Upon completing his degree in drawing and painting from the National University of Colombia, Sánchez committed himself fully to his artistic career. He is now recognized as a prominent emerging artist, with his works held in numerous private collections around the globe. In 2014, he was invited to Guadalajara, Mexico, as a guest artist for the cultural fairs department in Tlaquepaque, where he currently resides.

Sánchez’s art explores themes of contemporary existence and introspection, reflecting on the fleeting nature of human experience. His work integrates elements of pop art, universal symbols, and realistic figuration, utilizing shapes and reflections to convey the emotional depth and vulnerabilities of humanity. Sánchez operates under the pseudonym Alekos, a name roughly translated as "protector of mankind.”
